Repair procedures
Removal

[2WD]

1.

Remove wheel nuts, front wheel and tire (A) from hub.

Tightening torque:

107.9 - 127.5 N·m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf·m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb·ft)

  

Be careful not to damage the wheel bolts when removing the wheel and tire (A).

2.

Loosen the nut and then separate the stabilizer link from the front shock absorber.

Tightening torque :

98.1 - 117.7 N·m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf·m, 72.3 - 86.8 lb·ft)

3.

Loosen the bolts (A) and then remove the stabilizer bar.

Tightening torque:

49.0 - 63.7 N·m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf·m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb·ft)

4.

Remove the engine room side cover.

D 2.2 R VGT (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Engine Room Under cover")

G 2.0 T-GDI THETA II (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Engine Room Under cover")

G 3.3 T-GDI LAMBDA II (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Engine Room Under cover")

5.

Disconnect the R-MDPS connector (A) and clip (B).

6.

Loosen the shaft joint bolt (A) and then separate the shaft joint.

Tightening torque:

32.4 - 37.3 N·m (3.3 - 3.8 kgf·m, 23.9 - 27.5 lb·ft)

  

Keep the steering wheel in a neutral position. Moving the steering wheel may damage the cable inside the clock spring.

Tighten the steering column bolts in the same direction as they were removed.

Do not reuse the universal joint bolt when installing.

7.

Disconnect the R-MDPS wiring clip (A) from the sub frame.

8.

Remove the tie rod end nut.

Tightening torque :

88.3 - 107.9 N·m (9.0 - 11.0 kgf·m, 65.1 - 79.6 lb·ft)

9.

Remove the knuckle by using the ball joint remover (A).

10.

Loosen the gear box bolts (A) and then remove the gear box.

  

Must use a engine jack for safety.

11.

Remove the front wheel guard.

12.

Remove the lateral arm.

Tightening torque:

117.7 - 132.4 N·m (12.0 - 13.5 kgf·m, 86.8 - 97.6 lb·ft)

13.

Loosen the compression arm bolt & nut from the subframe.

Tightening torque:

156.9 - 176.5 N·m (16.0 - 18.0 kgf·m, 115.7 - 130.2 lb·ft)

14.

Remove the hood assembly.

(Refer to Body - "Hood assembly")

15.

Assemble the engine support fixture on the engine room.

(Refer to Special Service Tools - "Engine support fixture assembly drawing")

16.

Disconnect the semi active engine mounting connector (A). [R 2.2]

17.

Loosen the intercooler inlet hose bolt. [R 2.2]

Tightening torque:

9.8 - 11.8 N·m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf·m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb·ft)

18.

Loosen the engine mounting insulator nut (A).

Tightening torque:

63.7 - 83.3 N·m (6.5 - 8.5 kgf·m, 47.0 - 61.5 lb·ft)

[RH]

[2.0 T-GDI THETA II, R 2.2]

[LH]

[3.3 T-GDI LAMBDA II]

  

When loosen the 3.3 T-GDI LAMBDA II mounting insulator nut, raise the vehicle.

19.

Remove the clip (A) from the sub frame.

[3.3 T-GDI LAMBDA II]

20.

Loosen the bolts (A) and then remove the sub frame.

Tightening torque :

176.5 - 196.1 N·m (18.0 - 20.0 kgf·m, 130.2 - 144.7 lb·ft)

  

Must use a engine jack for safety.

21.

Remove the engine bracket from the sub frame.

Tightening torque:

49.0 - 63.7 N·m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf·m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb·ft)

22.

Install in the reverse order of removal.

  

Install at the empty vehicle height when it is assembled.

23.

Check the front alignment.

(Refer to Suspension System - "Alignment")

[AWD]

1.

Remove wheel nuts, front wheel and tire (A) from hub.

Tightening torque:

107.9 - 127.5 N·m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf·m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb·ft)

  

Be careful not to damage the wheel bolts when removing the wheel and tire (A).

2.

Remove the front wheel guard.

3.

Remove the engine room side cover.

D 2.2 R VGT (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Engine Room Under cover")

G 2.0 T-GDI THETA II (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Engine Room Under cover")

G 3.3 T-GDI LAMBDA II (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Engine Room Under cover")

4.

Remove the lateral arm.

Tightening torque:

117.7 - 132.4 N·m (12.0 - 13.5 kgf·m, 86.8 - 97.6 lb·ft)

5.

Loosen the compression arm bolt & nut from the subframe.

Tightening torque:

156.9 - 176.5 N·m (16.0 - 18.0 kgf·m, 115.7 - 130.2 lb·ft)

6.

Loosen the nut and then separate the stabilizer link from the front shock absorber.

Tightening torque:

98.1 - 117.7 N·m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf·m, 72.3 - 86.8 lb·ft)

7.

Loosen the bolts (A) and then remove the stabilizer bar.

Tightening torque:

49.0 - 63.7 N·m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf·m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb·ft)

8.

Disconnect the R-MDPS connector (A) and clip (B).

9.

Loosen the shaft joint bolt (A) and then separate the shaft joint.

Tightening torque:

32.4 - 37.3 N·m (3.3 - 3.8 kgf·m, 23.9 - 27.5 lb·ft)

Remove the hood assembly.

Assemble the engine support fixture on the engine room.

(Refer to Special Service Tools - "Engine support fixture assembly drawing")

14.

Disconnect the semi active engine mounting connector (A). [R 2.2]

15.

When loosen the 3.3 T-GDI LAMBDA II mounting insulator nut, raise the vehicle.

17.

Remove the clip (A) from the sub frame.

[3.3 T-GDI LAMBDA II]

18.

Loosen the bolts (A) and then remove the sub frame.

Tightening torque:

176.5 - 196.1 N·m (18.0 - 20.0 kgf·m, 130.2 - 144.7 lb·ft)

  

Must use a engine jack for safety.

19.

Remove the engine bracket from the sub frame.

Tightening torque:

49.0 - 63.7 N·m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf·m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb·ft)

20.

Install in the reverse order of removal.

  

Install at the empty vehicle height when it is assembled.

21.

Check the front alignment.
